Parkview Family Medicine opens Goshen office, accepting patients

GOSHEN – A Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Family Medicine practice is now welcoming patients of all ages at 1111 Lighthouse Ln., Goshen, with Tamara Kermani, DO, caring for the primary care needs of area residents.
Kermani’s office is located in the same building as the current PPG – obstetrics/gynecology office.
“We are pleased to be able to increase access to quality primary care in the area with the opening of our new PPG – Family Medicine practice in Goshen,” said Scott Gabriel, market president for Parkview Health Northwest. “Patients can feel confident knowing they will be able to see a professional with Dr. Kermani’s excellent experience close to home. From preventive care to diagnosing and managing chronic illnesses, she will strive to guide individuals and families, no matter where they are on their health journey.”
Previously, Kermani served patients in the Syracuse/Milford area for nine years, providing full-time preventative care – as well as urgent care and complex care management – in an outpatient setting. For several years, he simultaneously managed two family medicine clinics. She has also participated in the training and instruction of numerous medical students and advanced practice providers over the years.
Kermani completed her family medicine residency through the Residency Program at Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman, Arizona. She received her medical degree (Doctor of Osteopathy) from Western University of Health Sciences College of Medicine of The Pacific in Pomona, California.
Kermani pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializing in cultural anthropology and graduating with honors.
She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.
Kermani says her years of experience with patients ranging from newborns to older adults have honed her diagnostic skills and given her an appreciation for the variety of family medicine. She is particularly passionate about working with elderly patients and those who are considered medically complex due to multiple serious health issues. With special interests in cardiology, hematology, oncology and gastrointestinal medicine, she strives to provide the most comprehensive treatment possible to her patients before referring them to specialists.
Kermani also performs joint injections for pain relief and minor skin procedures on an outpatient basis. Committed to preventative care, she emphasizes the importance of annual wellness exams and taking advantage of routine screening exams, a message she hopes will resonate not only with patients, but also their families.
“I really enjoy taking care of my patients and their families and getting to know them as individuals,” Kermani said. “During my career, I have treated large, extended families, from great-great-grandparents to great-great-grandchildren, which has been very rewarding. The meaningful connections that develop with them over time help strengthen mutual trust and our collaboration in all facets of their health.”
Doctor-patient communication helps foster that trust, notes Kermani. Each patient must be able to tell their own story, since “No one knows their body better than they do”.
Kermani recently remarried and, outside of the office, enjoys traveling and cooking with her new husband, Hadi. The couple plans to adopt a canine friend for their cat, Casper. They are also working on home renovation projects to prepare their properties while launching a new business as bed and breakfast owners.
Kermani is a proud mother of three children. His oldest daughter is pursuing medicine, having graduated from Yale University with a master’s degree in public health (MPH). His youngest daughter is earning her own MPH in Portland, Oregon. After his second year at Purdue University, Kermani’s son is working in real estate during a gap year to consider career possibilities, including medicine.
